In simple words, we can say edge computing is a type of computer program which deliver very low latency and bandwidth nearer to the requests. What is the difference between cloud and edge computing
According to CISCO, they have 14.1ZB of cloud data by 2020. Cloud computing is all about making use of data by centralizing the storage area.
Cloud computing is an excellent solution to storage problems nowadays.
But it also has some disadvantages. When many devices share data simultaneously, cloud systems slow down and can’t work efficiently.
This is where edge computing differs from the cloud computing system.
As edge computing follows an entirely different approach, it moves the processing away from the centralized servers and closer to the last user.

In remote areas, there is limited or even no connectivity of a centralized storage system. These locations need localized storage or a mini data center with these service systems.

According to Chris Nelson( Vice President of Engineering at OSIsoft ), hanging a balance between keeping data at the edge and bringing it into a central cloud when necessary.
“Companies might suffer to understand the balance between delivering information to the cloud and process it at the edge. In terms of money, it’s more practical to analyze data regionally. However, in some cases, data may need to process in the cloud,” Nelson said.
